Romanian Doctors Warn Population: Ivermectin NOT to be Used for Treating COVID-19

Romanian doctors and health specialists started to warn the population for NOT using Ivermectin for treating COVID-19. In fact, the warning came too late, as vet pharmacies all over the country reported difficulties in supplying the demand for Ivermectin.

Where did it all start off? Apparently, as sources claim, from a study published by three physicians who claimed that Ivermectin has a special combination of anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties that make it useful preventively and for treating early and late-stage illness.

We are not here to question their study, we are not doctors, but it seems that the medical community worldwide disagree with their opinion. Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health, the American agency which has the last word on matters like this, has recently changed its recommendation on its website.

The COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) has determined that currently there are insufficient data to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19. Results from adequately powered, well-designed, and well-conducted clinical trials are needed to provide more specific, evidence-based guidance on the role of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.

NIH recommendation on the use of Ivermectin

Is it another chloroquine-like debate? It definitely looks so for many, but this won’t stop some to buy Ivermectin to prevent or treat COVID-19, like it didn’t stop hundreds of thousands to buy chloroquine for the same purpose.

Is it safe, at least? It seems safe for…animals. In fact, Ivermectin is not FDA-approved for the treatment of any viral infection, but it’s used as an antiparasitic drug.

A conclusion is clear – people are desperate to find a way out of this situation, to protect themselves and their dear ones, and they search for help wherever possible. If the vaccination campaign delays to deliver results, Ivermectin, chloroquine or any other off-the-shelf drug will look more appealing.
