Romanian Students Win Gold Medals at European Informatics Olympiad

On Wednesday, August 21, in Chisinau, Moldova, the award ceremony of the 8th edition of the European Informatics Olympiad for Juniors took place, a competition in which 98 competitors from 25 countries participated. The Romanian students won gold and silver medals.

The Romanian team returns home with four medals:

  • Petrean 𝐑𝐨𝐧𝐝, a student at “Silvania” Zalău National College, won the gold medal, being designated the winner of the competition
  • Tutunaru Vlad Mihại, a Bucharest International Theoretical High School for Informatics student, also obtained a gold medal
  • Muresan Luca Valentin, a student at the National College “Mihai Eminescu” Satu Mare, won a silver medal;
  • Turcanu David Constantin, a Bucharest International Theoretical High School of Informatics student, won a silver medal.

The constant effort made by the Romanian students took Romania to 1st place in the medals ranking. Romania remains the only country to win gold in the eight editions held!

  • In addition, during the competition, medals were also awarded based on ranking for the Balkan Junior Informatics Olympiad for 2024, where Romania also took first place.
  • The results of the Romanian students are:
  • Petrean 𝐑𝐨𝐧𝐝, “Silvania” Zalău National College, gold medal and winner of the competition;
  • Tutunaru Vlad Mihai Bucharest International Theoretical High School of Informatics, gold medal;
  • Muresan Luca Valentin, “Mihai Eminescu” National College Satu Mare, gold medal
  • Turcanu David Constantin, Bucharest International Theoretical High School of Informatics, silver medal.
