Romanian President Iohannis to meet US President Trump on August 20

The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, will be on August 19-20 in Washington D.C., at the invitation of President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. The visit will occur as Romania marks 30 years since the fall of communism and 15 years since the country joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)

“President Donald Trump will welcome Klaus Iohannis, to the White House, on August 20, 2019. The two leaders will discuss the best ways to address the many common security challenges that both the United States and Romania face, as well as ways to advance fair and reciprocal trade and energy partnerships.”, according to a statement posted on the USA presidency’s website, this Tuesday afternoon.

“President Klaus Iohannis and President Donald J. Trump will discuss the strengthening and further development of the strong and dynamic Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States of America, in all its dimensions, including security and economic . Klaus Iohannis will highlight the fact that Romania will continue to be a solid strategic partner and a trustworthy ally for the USA, as one of Romania’s foreign policy priorities is to consolidate the transatlantic relationship and the security of the Euro-Atlantic space,” according to the Romanian Presidency website.
