According to Credit Suisse’s Global Wealth 2020 study, Romania reached 47,000 millionaires in dollars in 2020, 15,000 more than the previous year, and nearly treble the number in 2018. At the same time, just one Romanian has a wealth of more than $500 million, compared to two in 2019.
Thus, 1.431 million Romanians possessed a wealth of more than $100,000 in 2020, a significant rise from 1.11 million in 2019 and 385,000 in 2019.
The number of millionaires in Romania grew from 15,982 in 2018 to 31,703 in 2019 and 47,000 in 2020.
Of the 47,000 Romanian millionaires, 43,200 have a wealth of $1 to $5 million, 2,806 have a fortune of $5 to $10 million, 1,089 have a fortune of $10 to $50 million, 51 have a richness of $50 to $100 million, and 21 have a fortune of $100 million to $500 million.
Only one Romanian has a wealth of more than $500 million, compared to two Romanians in 2019.
Household net worth increased by 4.1 percent, from around $730 billion in 2019 to $761 billion in 2020. In December 2019, the average adult’s net worth grew by 4.8 percent to $ 50,009, up from $ 47,721 in December 2019. Non-financial assets account for the majority of the wealth ($ 40,702).
Romanians have a stronger consumer buying power in 2021 compared to 2018, and this is very good news, not only for the Romanians, but also for the investors who chose this very interesting South-Eastern European country to do business in.
