Romania posted the highest annual inflation rate among EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE) in July, at 8.9%, the EU’s statistical office said on Friday.
In comparison, as related by SEE News, Eurostat said in a data release Greece recorded the lowest annual inflation among EU members in SEE last month, at 3.5%, compared to the EU average of 6.1%.
In monthly terms, Greece also saw a decline in consumer prices by 1%, whereas consumer prices in the EU remained unchanged from June.
On the other hand, Bulgaria’s monthly inflation rate was the highest among EU states in SEE in July, at 1.2%.

Romanians are among the Europeans suffering the most from inflation, but this is not all. According to a recent study, the pricing index in Romania and other SEE countries is the highest in the EU. This combination makes living in Romania tricky during these times, with 25% of the salary being spent on food.
