The European Parliament on Thursday announced in a press release that Laura Codruţa Kovesi, former head of the National Anticorruption Directorate in Romania, has the “full” support for the leadership of the European Prosecutor’s Office, remaining the official EP candidate.
France has agreed to support Laura Codruta Kovesi for leading the European Prosecutor’s Office instead of Jean-François Bohnert, according to some French and Romanian sources quoted by Financial Times.
The change of attitude towards the EU Prosecutor’s Office came from the need for a geographical balance for the top positions of the EU because of the fact that Eastern Europe has not received any.
