The most famous Romanian sculptor, Constantin Brancusi, is observed annually on February 19. This was the day when Brancusi was born. In 2022 there are 146 years since his birthday and Constantin Brancusi Day is here to remind art lovers worldwide of his exceptional talent and mastership.
Constantin Brancusi is considered the pioneer of modern sculpture and one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. His works, among which some very famous and expensive ones, such as Infinity Columns, Mademoiselle Pogany or The Bird in Space, The Cock or The Wisdom of the Earth, created a unique style, forever loved by the sculpture enthusiasts.
Romania is his country of origin, but he was later “adopted” by France. At the age of 27, Brancusi was forced to walk from Romania to Paris as the lack of money made the journey impossible by modern means.
Constantin Brancusi was quoted saying to the Romanian people when returning from his adoptive country:
When I left, you were poor and stupid. I come back and I find you poorer and more stupid!

Unfortunately, there are only a few events organized in Romania to remind the people about the marvellous sculptor’s vast personality and exceptional achievements. The most interesting one is launching the virtual tour dedicated to Brancusi.
You can enjoy it by accessing the National Museum of Art of Romania’s webpage.
Whether you are an art lover or not, you can enjoy some of the most appreciated pieces of the Constantin Brancusi collection exhibited in a museum in Romania.
