Taste Atlas issued its Top 100 Traditional Food Cities for 2021. Bucharest makes it on seven this year, and this top tells the international food lovers enough to make them visit the city.
The criteria used for this comprehensive ranking are the food critics’ opinions and the reviews received from the travelers. The top position is taken by Mexico City, while Bangkok and Naples follow on second and third.
Bucharest is on seven, right after Paris and before other famous cities like Rome, Madrid or Barcelona.
When it comes to the Romanian traditional food in Bucharest, one has a wide range at one’s disposal. There are lots of restaurants in Bucharest to offer traditional food. Among the most aksed for dishes by the foreign travelers there are ‘sarmale’, which are minced meat (usually pork, but also beef, sheep, poultry, or even fish), mixed with rice and other ingredients, wrapped in rolled cabbage leaves, but also the ‘bean soup with smoked ham hock’ and the ‘pork feast’, especially around the winter holidays.
The position in the Taste Atlas Awareds of 2021 honors the city and we are proud to be among the top 10 best traditional food cities this year.
