Interest To Invest in Romania Drops: Less Foreign Participation in New Companies

According to data centralized by the National Office of the Trade Register (ONRC), the number of companies with foreign capital newly established in Romania registered a decrease of 8.3% in the first two months of 2024, compared to a similar period in 2023, reaching a total of 1,084 companies.

The number of new companies, in more than 1,084, had a total subscribed capital of 5.866 million dollars, registering an increase of 5.4% compared to the subscribed capital of companies registered in January-February 2023, which was 5.564 million USD.

In February 2024, 603 companies with foreign participation were registered (down by 14.2% compared to the same month in 2023), with a subscribed capital of 2.908 million lei (down by 10.7%). Regarding the fields of activity, most registrations were registered in wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair (25.97% of the total), professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (21.06% of the total ) and transport, storage and communications (17.25% of the total).

At the end of February 2024, there were 252,310 companies with foreign participation in the share capital in Romania. The value of the subscribed capital was almost 70.178 billion dollars.

How many companies were written off in Romania in January 2024

The National Trade Register Office (ONRC) has provided new data on the companies delisted in this year’s first month. These data reveal that 9,251 companies were deregistered nationally in January 2024. Their number increased by 67.86% compared to the first month of last year.

The National Office of the Trade Register (ONRC) shows that most deletions occurred in Bucharest. It is about 1,376 companies, increasing by 60.75% compared to January 2023.
