The National Bank of Romania (BNR) announced on Thursday a benchmark exchange rate of 4.7287 lei / euro, up by 0.06% comparing to Wednesday. At the same time, the gold price has reached its highest level in the last 7 years due to the increased volatility of the international financial markets. It was quoted at 165.7899 lei per gram and thus reached a maximum value for the last eight and a half months: 165.4073 per gram. The US dollar, indirectly rated on the Romanian market by reference to the euro / dollar parity, fell from 4.2193 lei to 4.1834 lei. The Swiss franc rate rose from 4.2262 lei to 4.2397 lei. The pound sterling went from 5.3065 lei to 5.3209 lei.
