Romanian Firefighters in Greece Helping with Extinguishing Fire of Dry Vegetation

The Romanian firefighters are again present in Greece, as they did in the past. Appreciated as ever, Romanians are among the professionals who are bringing their contribution to keeping Greece’s territory safer this summer. This time, their mission is to extinguish a fire of dry vegetation and forest near Varnava, located in the prefecture of Attica.

This event involves all the technical means assigned to this mission: three forest fire extinguishing machines, a high-capacity fire extinguisher with 10,000 litres of water, and a 30,000-liter tank.

The mission is made difficult by the rugged terrain, which makes it difficult for firefighting teams to move. High temperatures and low humidity favour the expansion of these types of fires.

The activation and operationalization of the specialized national module for extinguishing forest fires are carried out to execute the specific missions of monitoring and extinguishing outbreaks on Greece’s territory in the locations established by the Greek partners.
