After two and a half years under Social Democratic governance, 1.4 million Romanians escaped severe material deprivation, according to Eurostat.
In 2016, 4.7 million Romanians were living in severe material deprivation, and in 2017 the number of these people decreased to 3.9 million. In 2018, the number of Romanians living on the edge of poverty decreased to 3.1 million, and currently only 16.8% of Romanians, ie only 2.5 million people, are living in severe poverty.
The statistical figures show that in comparison with 2016, the wealth of the Romanians increased by 25%, with the incomes and the standard of living, but also with the value of GDP, the gross domestic product, on the basis of which the annual budget is built.
