From this perspective, the report indicates that employees can redirect their efforts towards more value-added activities by automating various tasks. However, delaying the adoption of this technology by five years could reduce the potential GDP gain by 1%.

The study forecasts that generative AI could impact up to 4.5 million jobs in Romania. It is anticipated that 54% of the jobs (approximately 4.2 million) will be augmented by automating specific tasks and supporting complex problem-solving and product design.

This is particularly relevant for professionals in science and engineering, educators, and managers. Meanwhile, about 3.3 million jobs (42%) are expected to remain largely unaffected by AI, including roles like operators, construction workers, and personal care workers.

Conversely, around 4% of jobs (0.3 million) may be fully or partially displaced due to automation, affecting occupations such as bookkeepers, clerical support, and contact center salespersons. The emerging AI economy jobs are expected to offset these losses.

Generative AI is poised to enhance productivity across various sectors, mainly services. In Romania, industries such as information and finance, business services and real estate, public administration, education, and healthcare are predicted to experience the highest productivity gains, with peak increases between 1.4% and 1.5%.

Despite the potential benefits, adoption rates of AI in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) are low. The survey highlights that only 4% of CEE companies and 2% of Romanian companies had implemented at least one type of AI technology by 2023, compared to an EU average of 8%. Nonetheless, 40% of Romanian businesses plan to invest in AI-based automation within the next five years. The primary barrier to AI adoption, cited by 61% of CEE companies, is the cost of AI tools.

The CEE region, including Romania, falls behind the EU average and is a global leader in AI adoption. To harness the full potential of AI, the survey suggests that these countries need strategic governmental policies, investment in education, and support for local innovation and AI commercial initiatives.

There is more to be understood, even by Google itself, in terms of algorithm, industries targeted, and keywords triggering this AI Overviews feature. Still, one thing is clear: like Bing introduced Copilot in its classic search, Google introduced Gemini, its Generative Engine, and called this feature AI Overviews. This was their answer to Microsoft’s move. Yet, this impacts the organic traffic.

So, 8.45% might not sound like much, but imagine you live out of a fixed revenue from your online business and you suddenly got it dropped by 10%, this is when you were positioned as number 1 in the feed. Would you care for this drop? But of course you would!

The good news is that this feature has not been rolled out in Europe. The bad news is that Google plans to do so by the end of 2024. This offers European businesses plenty of time to prepare for this change and to adopt generative engine optimization, which is quite a change in the SEO game.

GEO might become the next SEO or, as some experts call it, an additional feature the SEO agencies should include in their services. Either way, the era of generative engines has just begun, and you are either prepared for it or disappear from the market.

GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”) is a step towards much more natural human-computer interaction—it accepts as input any combination of text, audio, and image. It generates any combination of text, audio, and image outputs. It can respond to audio inputs in as little as 232 milliseconds, with an average of 320 milliseconds, similar to human response time in a conversation. It matches GPT-4 Turbo performance on text in English and code, with significant improvement on text in non-English languages, while also much faster and 50% cheaper in the API. GPT-4o is significantly better at vision and audio understanding compared to existing models.

The latest version is superior to other AI tools, including the mostly praised Llama3 400b of Meta.

We tested its ability to analyze a picture and uploaded what we considered challenging for any language-based model. A non-advanced mode could’ve taken objects like actual ladybugs. However, GPT-4o correctly identified and understood them: Romanian “Martisoare” or March trinkets, as the English-speaking world calls them.

In a different test, we uploaded an image taken from GA4, the latest version of Google Analytics.

And the answer offered by GPT-4o was more than accurate. After identifying the table as being taken from Analytics, the model offered a short analysis of what had happened during the last 30 days with the website.

• Organic Search is the largest source of sessions, with a significant volume of 36K, reflecting a healthy growth of 14.7%.
• Direct sessions have increased by 20.4%, indicating more users directly navigating the site.
• Organic Social has seen the highest relative growth, with a 126.5% increase, showing successful engagement on social media platforms.
• Unassigned sessions have increased by 144%, though the total number is relatively low (61).
• Organic Video sessions have grown by 50%, though the absolute number of sessions is minimal.

AI enthusiasts are frantic about the latest technologies, and their opinions do not favour human abilities compared to AI-based tools.

We have said it before: humans will be increasingly replaced by AI in the foreseeable future, and this industry will develop more rapidly than usually predicted. The impact of AI on marketing, web design, app development, and other industries is already visible, and we are witnessing the revolution of replacing humans with AI. The latest launch from OpenAI, GPT-4o, proves our point here – humankind should understand that the AI revolution is here – we either adapt or be replaced.
